An infographic posted on Mashable over the weekend highlights some interesting trends on the concept of mobile marketing and how mobile technology is being embraced.
The findings by HighTable, a start-up social website for professionals, show that:
- Nearly two billion users will have access to the mobile web by 2015.
– Just over half (50.9%) of people currently using the mobile internet are over the age of 35, with just over a sixth aged 55 or above.
– Over a third (35.2%) of mobile internet consumers actively use the various social networking platforms.
– A total of 12.2% users shop online using mobile technology.
– A quarter (25.5%) of users keep up to date with the latest news through their mobiles, while 21.8% do likewise to stay abreast of sports news.
– The amount of money set aside for a mobile advertising budget in America is between $75,000 and $100,000 per campaign.
– Men usually use their smartphones to find out information about a particular product, with 14.1% of users comparing and contrasting prices.
– Women usually use their smartphones to transform shopping into a more social experience as they take pictures of products, send pictures to friends and family and ring or text friends and family to discuss a product.
Here’s another infographic we spotted recently that has some more facts and figures that may be of interest to you.
Clearly, mobile marketing is something business of all sizes need to be conscious of and address in an attempt to stay ahead of competitors and increase additional revenue streams.
