We recently reported that more and more companies are offering free wi-fi to their customers in an attempt to keep them in stores longer. The latest company to announce the offer of free wi-fi to customers has moved towards helping people to stay connected on the go.

Green Tomato Cars, the second largest taxi firm in London, have launched a free wi-fi service in their fleet of 300 cars, enabling passengers to check emails, update their social next works and surf the web via their smart-phone, tablet or laptop all whilst on the move.

Green Tomato Cars founder, Jonny Goldstone, hopes the service will help Londoners stay connected;

‘London has long been recognised as a hug for technological innovation’, Goldstone told the Inquirer.

‘In 2008 it was named the Wi-Fi capital of the world and in 2012 I think it would be fair to say it’s now the free Wi-Fi capital. You don’t have to work in the technology industry to see the importance of connectivity. With free in-car Wi-Fi we are able to offer our customers the access they needed to stay connected’.

Passengers using the Green Tomato Cars will be able to access download speeds of up to 7.2Mbit’s powered by an individual SIM placed in each car.

With the Olympics just around the corner you can be sure that this taxi wi-fi service will be of choice for tourists looking to stay in touch with their friends and families from event to event.
