For the last 12 months through our Cheif Executive Mahmood Mazhar, 08Direct has been delighted to support a fantastic new charity aimed at working with seriously ill children and their families.

Dreams & Wishes was launched towards the end of 2011 thanks to a substantial opening donation made by Mr Mazhar and 08Direct LTD. Since then their work has spread across the country and now has many high profile supporters including Sir Dave Richards, Joe Calzaghe, Martin Roberts and John Bercow MP.

As well as financial support, 08Direct has also donated full use of our telecoms network, which includes one of our platinum 03 numbers, fully customised call management and online portal access. We supplied them with an 03 number as they are ideal for charities and non-profit organisations. Other high profile charities including Children in Need and Sport Refief have used them as donation lines due to the fact they are treated as a local call, effectively making them free from contract mobiles.

Last week we learnt that the Dreams & Wishes board had organised a big Christmas fund raising event at Celtic Manor Hotel near Cardiff. This will take place on December 7th and will feature Russell Howard as guest speaker, and Mr Mazhar is delighted to be the main sponsor of the event. Up until the last few days Dreams & Wishes were still looking for a main sponsor, raising questions as to whether it would actually take place, but we have now stepped in to ensure the event will be the success it has the potential to be.

After agreeing to be the main sponsor, Mr Mazhar commented: “Having worked with the board to launch the charity, Dreams and Wishes has always been a charity I’ve been delighted to support, and can’t wait to play a central role in the big Christmas event”.
